Josh Johnson Brooklyn Concert reviews
Allstate Arena best suited for sports events.
We booked relatively "pricey" tickets in a section that we thought was good because we wanted good sight lines to the stage. The main access to the floor of the arena was unfortunately between us and the stage, as the show did not start until 8:00 and people were still arriving as late as 8:25, putting them between us and the stage. Our ticket showed a 7:30 start time, and we managed to get to our seats by 7:05 because parking is a challenge at Rosemont. On Ticketmaster, we could only book section and row, not specific seats. There were many "older" people at this concert, myself included. The arena, being old, lacks handicapped access to the arena floor, has no handrails on the steps going down, and the ushers appeared nonexistent in helping people find their seats. The audience had settled itself after intermission, and the second half of the show was most enjoyable and what you would expect from Josh Johnson. We really enjoyed the concert, but we likely won't book another concert at the Allstate Arena. I believe that with a concert of this magnitude (and price), the arena should follow the downtown theatres' practice and restrict late arrivals until "an appropriate time" after the show begins to allow those who arrived on time to enjoy the performance without constant interruptions. After the concert, the parking lot was chaotic, with no signs indicating the exit and no parking attendants directing traffic. Rosemont, you have the capacity to better manage this venue.
